Shi Lifeng’s Red Star series is one of the artist's most renowned body of work. Imagery from this series was used on the controversial Guns N' Roses 2008 album Chinese Democracy. Like his depiction of the political structure in his Manipulation series, Shi Lifeng’s use of the red star stands as an even more direct commentary about the relationship between individual and state. Placed in a black void, this red star is the only point of stability and grounding for these tiny figures.
