This is a photograph of the subway station at W. 145th Street, Harlem, New York City. My photographs depict raw emotions and feelings on how I look at the world. I try to take the camera and place it in a different angle to grasp a different perspective on how certain streets, buildings, and individuals can be perceived. Through my photography, I want to be able to properly document the present. Due to the gentrification that is taking place in areas such as Harlem, the Bronx, and Brooklyn, New York City is going through a metamorphosis where old New York is transitioning and being incorporated into a newer New York. I attempt to ingrain social issues in my photographs which depict everyday life in New York City defining what I think and I believe is America.
